This, my latest painting, is of a Great Western Railway pannier tank locomotive running alongside the River Dart in Devon. Taken from a photograph I took of the scene about twenty years ago. Took rather longer than usual as I had an enforced break after surgery on my hand.

A design by Sir William Stanier, this LMS Coronation class locomotive was one of the most powerful seen on the old LMS lines. Always something majestic about these superb examples of British engineering, modern trains just don't seem to have the same magic.
